About the position: This position will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation on Nellis AFB, NV.
Regular Part Time employees are guaranteed 20 hours, but may work up to 34 hours per week.
This position does offer benefits.
Requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, and stretching. Frequently lifts or carries items weighing up to 75 pounds
Duties
The purpose of this position is to serve as Outdoor Recreation Specialist for overall management, planning, maintenance and control of all outdoor facilities and equipment. Develops, organizes, and implements seasonal outdoor programs to include, but not limited to a variety of land and water-related activities and services (e.g., aquatics, camping, backpacking, nature hikes, canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, bicycling, skiing, etc.). Plans and coordinates activities within the limitations of available facilities, equipment, staff, and financial resources. Schedules and publicizes outdoor recreation activities. Arranges for off-base equipment, transportation, supplies, and services needed to accomplish scheduled activities. Establishes contact with various off-base agencies. Instructs participants in the activity for which the employee has technical expertise. Gathers, monitors and maintains data to complete reports, respond to inquiries and assists others. Assists with periodic program plans and quarterly and annual budget requirements. Ensures safety orientation is provided to paid and volunteer staff and participants regarding specific activities. Determines program needs and objectives through the use of patron requests, surveys, and current trends. Plans and organizes special events as assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Director. Provides information and advises patrons of available recreation resources and opportunities in the area. May be required to act as trip/tour guide, supervise volunteers and perform personally, a broad variety of general clerical and administrative functions. May become involved in supply functions such as receipt, storage, issue and maintenance.

- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess a valid state driver's license.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
- This position has physical requirements which require the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
- This position requires the incumbent to meet state and legal age requirement for sale of alcoholic beverages, which is 21 years of age.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have knowledge gained through experience to independently program and carryout continuing outdoor recreation projects or programs through proper application of the principles, concepts, and techniques of recreation to the specific needs of the community served. Knowledge of camping, fishing, hiking, boating, and other outdoor recreational activities. Ability to communicate effectively. Must have knowledge of basic inventory and stock record procedures, management procedures, and general business principles. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
