About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Assist in the diagnosis, adjustment, adjustment and repair of Automated Test Equipment.
Determine if malfunction exists within the engine/transmission/final drive or the test equipment (ATE).
Assist contractors in the upgrades to assure equipment is working properly.
Ensure hazardous materials/waste within work area are handled/processed within operating guidelines.
Ensure that storage drums, and other containers housing hazardous materials/waste, are properly palletized and secured for
movement.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires a physical upon entering the position and annually.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Testing of a variety of internal combustion engines for final acceptance for turbine engines such as the 1500 series, using conventional dynamometer test stands and/or Automatic Test Equipment (ATE); enter starting data and subsequent reading on test or log sheet; periodically check engines for leaks, unusual noise, misfiring, heating or other unusual malfunctions; complete quality data feedback forms and furnishes to inspectors, supervisors and shop personnel

Physical Effort: Incumbent is required to be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in rooms that are air conditioned, adequately lighted and ventilated. Room is adequately lighted and ventilated. Work is dirty and greasy and incumbent is subject to cuts and bruises from use of tools and equipment and working in close places. The work is performed in area where the noise is disagreeable, making it extremely difficult to talk and be able to hear and understand instructions. Incumbent is exposed to disagreeable smoke and fumes from exhaust of engines. Is required to wear safety shoes and use ear protection.
