Duties
You will analyze data collected from a variety of cyber defense tools (e.g., IDS alerts, firewalls, network traffic logs) to analyze events that occur within their environments for the purpose of mitigating threats
You will provide timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities and distinguish these incidents and events from benign activities.
You will utilize cyber defense tools for continual monitoring and advanced analysis of system activity to identify malicious activity.
You will perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.
You will conduct complex analysis and provide after action report with recommendations for identified malicious activity, providing weaknesses exploited, exploitation methods, effects on system and information.
You will perform analysis on correlated event information gathered from a variety of sources within the enterprise to gain situational awareness, determine the effectiveness of an observed attack, and provide recommendations for remediation.

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 511 level Advanced/Master within 12 months of appointment.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing Computer Network Defense (CND) infrastructure support to projects to include Cyber Defense design, installation, assessment/audit, system hardening, and risk mitigation. Qualifying experience may include: performing system-level, software-level, and data-level risk analysis; documenting the IA requirements and policies relating to network and computer systems; providing guidance on current computer security requirements, best practices, and information system/network hardening techniques.
Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Coordinate activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services, IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ensure that systems, network, and data users are aware of, understand, and adhere to systems security policies and procedures.
3. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Promoting awareness of security issues and ensuring sound security principles are reflected in organizations' visions and goals.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Assessing security events to determine impact and implementing corrective actions.
