DON Pathways Internship Program
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS) is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and exceptional people to support the United States Navy Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS) is focused on providing customers with quality, timely and cost efficient maintenance, modernization, and technical and logistics support.
The Work Study program is designed to provide work experience in a variety of trades and industrial settings.
Duties
You will be placed in work situations that will provide the opportunity to acquire the fundamental knowledge necessary to gain an appreciation of the procedures, the environment and the production effort associated with a large industrial activity.
You will be placed in an entry level position aligned to your personal interest, capacities or abilities.
Your assignments are designed to provide a broad perspective of an industrial operation.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position has a minimum entry age of 16 years old. Candidates younger than 16 will not be able to begin employment until the age of 16.
- You must be enrolled at an accredited school on a full-time basis in a study program leading to a high school diploma or a post-secondary technical certificate following normal completion of the senior year or certificate completion requirements.
- Currently enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE or Post-Secondary Technology or Trade Certificate Programs or equivalent course.
- Required to maintain at least a 2.0 scholastic average as a student that is predictive of graduation.
- Must be recommended by the school representative (CTE or Career Instructor or Counselor) and selected by the activity for student trainee position.

Education
QUALIFYING EDUCATION:
1) Enrollment in a high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body, or a home-school curriculum that has been approved by such a body or a State; and
2) Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education: (i) A technical or vocational school; (ii) A 2-year or 4-year college or university; (iii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or (iv) A home-school curriculum.
