Duties
Establish and maintain professional working relationships with external organizations to include local news media representatives, civic and business.
Conduct oral presentations to disseminate various types of informational materials.
Develop marketing and advertising programs to reach target markets
Project budget requirements to support future recruiting objectives
Arrange for local news coverage of recruiting activities.
Determine the most effective and cost efficient use of equipment to present information visually.
Plan and execute the annual advertising budget in support of the Battalion’s recruiting mission.
Plan, develop and manage advertising and marketing programs.
Maintain Battalion Web sites and social media sites, ensuring compliance with established policies and guidelines.
Write and review articles for publication to professional agencies/organizations
Produce written materials to interest enlistees and create awareness to the general public.
Communicate work direction and mission effectively to subordinates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 20%.
- One year supervisory probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Planning, developing, and managing advertising and marketing programs for recruiting battalion; advising Commander on a wide range of advertising, outreach, and public affairs programs in order to encourage enlistments and gain public support.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Affairs, Public Administration, Advertising, Communications, and Journalism or a related field.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
