You will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist in the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Outfitting Logistics Management Branch of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.

Duties

You will perform logistic management tasks involved in the development and implementation of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) policy and procedures for assigned systems. You will resolve logistics problems by gathering facts, defining and exploring problems, and developing alternate solutions to issues addressed in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) plans. You will perform oversight and execution of various supply programs and solving unusually complex or difficult supply issues associated with various DOD programs. You will analyze, investigate, develop and contribute resolutions to varied, unusual, and complex material problems.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience performing Logistics Management Specialist work equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes performing work which requires applying a basic knowledge of logistics principles, concepts and methods that encompass a limited range of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) applicable to ship modernization, conversion, overhaul, refueling and repair. Examples of specialized experience must include most or all of the following: 1) Review and validation of configuration records associated with shipboard equipment, including comparing ship equipment with onboarding technical data, ships automated systems, and other data bases; 2) Prepare, distribute and maintain the consolidated Shipboard Allowance List (COSAL) and COSAL maintenance products; 3) Plan material acquisition for submarines to meet outfitting readiness requirements; 4) Resolve problems relating to receipt of material, shortages, damage, rejection, repair, return, loan, diversion, material transfer and cannibalization. 5) Maintain availability of spare parts to support a wide range of shipbuilding developments; 6) maintain up-to-date status of milestone plans and prepare reports. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-09 SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree, LL.B, J.D., or have completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.

GS-09 COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
