About the Position: This position Located in the Emergency Management Branch of General Leonard Wood Community Hospital protects personnel, facilities and DOD assets utilizing several functional areas of security, including physical security, personnel security, operations security, information security, industrial security and antiterrorism/force protection.
Duties
Track and perform physical security inspections on all Mission Essential Vulnerable Areas (MEVAs).
Initiate and submit background investigation reports to determine security eligibility of individuals.
Advise on laws and regulations to ensure the proper course of action is taken to resolve security issues.
Review command security regulations and prepare local supplementation to meet requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- This position has been designated as a Mission Essential position. The incumbent will continue to perform essential functions during contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather situations or other emergency situations.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement. Applicants selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Travel outside local commuting area may be required up to approximately 5%.

In order to qualify, you must meet the EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing physical security inspections, developing written integrated security plans, verifying personnel background checks, working with local security partners, briefing employees on current security situations, and interpreting laws and regulations to advise command. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Security Management, Cyber Security, Physical Security, Criminal Justice, or Homeland Security.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
