The position will involve periods of pertinent formal education and periods of employment within the organization. The goal is for the student trainee to become familiar with work in support of programs, projects and functions of the assigned organization.
Duties
The Student Trainee will work in a team setting with professionals from various disciplines such as computer science, engineering, mathematics and statistics, etc. The trainee will perform selected on the job assignments and receive instruction on agency or departmental goals, objectives, regulations, procedures, occupational hazards, safety standards, inspection techniques and work processes.

Qualifications
FV-B: To qualify for the FV-B, you must be accepted to or currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution (college, university, vocational school, trade school, etc.). Full or half time enrollment is defined by your educational institution.Degree Requirement: course of study leading to a Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety and Occupational Health ManagementThis occupation has specific educational requirements for entry and applicants must show evidence that their planned academic program will meet those requirements (i.e. transcript reflecting enrollment in applicable programs). Students who graduate without meeting those requirements cannot be converted to the target position. Educational Requirements for conversion to the target position are: you must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in a program leading to a bachelor's degree or higher in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.Eligible applicants meeting the minimum qualification requirements may be further evaluated on the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) listed in the announcement. Based on this evaluation, applicants will be placed in one of the following categories: score order, category grouping, or priority grouping and referred to the selecting official for consideration.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.Some, all or none of the applicants may be interviewed.
