In this position, you will work as an Instructional Specialist within the National Preparedness Directorate's Center for Domestic Preparedness. The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge of or experience in healthcare, law enforcement, and/or hazardous materials training and the ability to incorporate current, state-of-the-practice information into curriculum development.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. This position has an individual occupational requirement at OPM Training Instruction Qualification Standard Training Instruction Series 1712. In addition to the Minimum Qualifications requirement listed below, you must meet the education or combination of education/experience listed under Basic Requirements. If using education to qualify, submission of transcript is required. Unofficial transcript is acceptable at time of application. Official transcript will be required if selected. Basic Requirements: Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. or Experience Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. AND Minimum Requirements: To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Designing course materials/programs for adult education; and Developing course materials/programs for instructor-led/distance learning instruction; and Designing/developing curriculum using standard software/learning management platforms. OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Degree must include coursework as listed in basic requirements section. OR Combination of education and experience.
