The Grants Management Specialist is located in the Division of Grants and Agreements (DGA). The primary purpose of the position is to oversee, manage, analyze, and process grant, cooperative agreement, interagency agreement, and other agreement actions while providing financial and administrative support to NSF award recipients and to internal scientific program staff.

As a Grants Management Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-9, you must have one of the following: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal Service supporting the Federal Grants Management process. Examples of experience may include: reviewing routine grants, agreements and proposals for completeness; obtaining additional complex information when necessary; and completing related assignments to develop skills and knowledge in grants management.
OR Have a Master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR Have two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master`s or equivalent graduate degree.
OR Have a combination of post high school education and experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have one of the following: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal Service processing grants and agreements during the Federal Grants Management process.Examples of specialized experience may include: strong knowledge of various assistance mechanisms, techniques, and procedures from fundamental to complex grants, cooperative agreements, interagency agreements, other agreements and Memoranda of Understanding; strong knowledge of procurement policies and requirements applicable to sub-awards.
OR Have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related.
OR Have a combination of post high school education and experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service being responsible for managing, analyzing, and overseeing all aspects of the federal grants and agreements processes. Examples of specialized experience may include: working knowledge of various assistance mechanisms, techniques, and procedures from fundamental to grants, cooperative agreements, interagency agreements, other agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding; basic knowledge of procurement policies and requirements applicable to sub-awards.
Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) & other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, & skills & can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
GS 9 & 11: Education may be substituted for experience as described in "Qualifications. If qualifying based on education, you must submit TRANSCRIPTS (unofficial copies are acceptable) or a DIPLOMA that verifies that the requirement is met.
GS 12: Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
