About the Position: This position is located in the 17th Medical Group at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas.

Duties
Provide health psychology services to Medical Treatment Facility beneficiaries, inpatient and outpatient treatment.
Develop and manage health psychology Service programs and activities for assessment, evaluation, and treatment of patients.
Plan and recommend allocation of staff and resources, Service priorities, procedures, and work schedules
Provides professional consultation to specialty medical departments within the MTF, regarding the identification and diagnosis of complex psycho-social cases, involving medical complications requiring multiple specialty care management
Performs clinical duties within the health psychology specialty, including individual/group interventions and rapid-focused assessments of newly diagnosed medical and clinical patients.
Make complex diagnostic decisions and recommendations regarding patients, to a multi-disciplinary medical team/tumor board consisting of physicians, social workers, nursing staff, and others, regarding continuity of care and treatment compliance.
Develop and implement specialized programs and services for medical patients and persons with traumatic life events.
Provide clinical and administrative oversight to staff and trainees, plan and deliver presentations and lecture.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position is subject to a mandatory annual seasonal influenza vaccination. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Temporary Duty Travel may be up to 10% in performance of duties.
- A Personal security investigation Tier 1 is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Credentialing verification is required. Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
- Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Health):
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing consultation and/or assessment of patients with health psychology issues; conducting individual and/or group interventions, and collaborating with healthcare professionals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
License: The Clinical Psychologist position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
