Serves as a first level Supervisory Store Associate, and Assistant Manager in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) location. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first line supervisor for store associates. Specific assignments vary by individual store and store management requirements.
Duties
Directs the following work in multiple areas of the commissary
Front end operations including patron identification, customer inquiries, check out and cash control
Non-perishable stock control including transporting item and stocking shelves
Meat display and case stocking
Produce inspection, display and rotation
Account maintenance, supply and computer operations

Requirements

Qualifications
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, superior academic achievement, or a combination of experience and education to qualify. When using education to meet qualifications you must submit transcripts. Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying experience include:
Plans, directs, or assigns work for employees.
Knowledge of multiple departments within the grocery store to evaluate work, provide instruction and conduct on the job training for workers.
Carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations.
You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date:
Physical requirements: (1) Frequently lift, push, pull, carry, and handle commissary products weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance,. Heavier products are moved with the assistance from other workers or by using weight-handling equipment (for example: manual or electric pallet jacks.) (2) Long periods of standing, walking, reaching, and similar activates when taking inventory, retrieving items from the warehouse, and stocking shelves. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire.
Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA. For GS-8: You must have 52 weeks of Federal service at or equivalent to GS-6.
Time after competitive appointment. Current federal civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since being selected for a nontemporary appointment from a competitive examination register of eligibles (an announcement opened to the public) or under a direct hire authority.
