This position is part of the Bonneville Power Administration, Department of Energy. As a Student Trainee (Accounting), you will complete periods of pertinent formal education and periods of employment as part of a formal student employment program. Work assignments during periods of employment require working independently using conventional procedures and practices that apply to most situations encountered.

Duties

As a Student Trainee (Accounting), you will: Prepares accounting analyses and presentation materials on an as needed basis, with direction from senior accountants. Performs routine system processing to facilitate the monthly ledger or subsidiary ledger closing processes. Performs technical duties and administrative support of accounting procedures and techniques. Provides support to senior accountants in preparing, recording, and documenting accounting transactions; prepares General Ledger account reconciliations and analyzes financial statements. Participates in the preparation, review and reconciliation of BPA's and FCRPS' monthly financial statements and the Annual Report.

BASIC REQUIREMENT: Currently enrolled in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. GS-04: To qualify, you must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study OR an associate's degree. (1 full academic year is equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.) GS-05: To qualify, you must have completed 4 academic years of post-high school education leading to a bachelor's degree OR a bachelor's degree. GS-07: To qualify, you must have completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree. Note: 1 full academic year is equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Education

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Your educational goals must include obtaining a professional degree in accounting, auditing; or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.

You must submit a copy of your current transcripts for proof of education and enrollment. If you are not currently enrolled, but have been accepted for future enrollment you must submit a copy of your acceptance letter with your application.
