This position serves as the Project's Lead Safety Specialist and assists the Team Lead for Environmental/ Health & Safety Office in planning and managing a comprehensive safety occupational health program to eliminate or control the risk of injury to personnel assigned to all phases of the safety and occupational health activities.

Duties

Enforce safety and occupational health principles, methods, and techniques which includes understanding OSHA requirements. Investigate mishaps involving personnel or damage to machinery, tools, materials, or equipment. Address any near misses, injuries, or accidents and brief the Operations Project Manager. Evaluate, procure, and distribute accident prevention material and provide training. Assist with the hearing conservation program, the respiratory protection program, fall protection program, and confined space program. Communicate with the District Diving Coordinator to discuss policy and safe work practices for diving operations. Perform administrative functions for the SOHO in such as timekeeping, travel, correspondence, and electronic records management.

• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License at time of appointment.
