This National Guard position is for an AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number NGD1444000 and is part of 114 MXS SQ. This is a Title 32, Dual-Status position. AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: - All members of the South Dakota Air National Guard or those eligible to join.

Duties

As an AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, WS-8801-14, you will: This position is located in one of two major divisions within the Logistics Directorate (Logistics Group) of an Air National Guard Flying Wing. Its purpose is to provide overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities within one of three major work functions (Aircraft Generation Division, and the Equipment Maintenance and the Component Repair Branches of the Aircraft Maintenance Division. All three work functions are organized with a number of subordinate supervisors due to the scope, volume, and complexity of operations. The work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi engine transports to the most modern sophisticated fighters and bombers. All aircraft are fully integrated in and are part of the Total Force Mission of the United States Air Force. Occupations supervised are somewhat similar, in that they all involve maintenance of assigned aircraft to ensure combat readiness; they are dissimilar in their organizational location, as well as the functional areas, occupational series, and the diversity and complexity of systems for which each function is responsible. The occupation and non-supervisory grade which best reflects the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: SMSgt to CMSgt are eligible to apply. Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following AFSC upon date of hire: AFSC 2AXXX, 2WXXX. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series. Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience in the KSAs listed below. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. Knowledge of the funding, equipment and manning resources needed for aircraft maintenance. Skill to plan and organize the work of lower graded mechanics. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to lead and develop supervisors across a variety of work-centers. Ability to set and enforce expectations and advise senior leadership on discipline and corrective action plans for subordinates.
