About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Industrial Operations, at Letterkenny Army Depot, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Duties

Repair various radars such as PATRIOT and other similar systems. Operate test equipment such as frequency meters, oscilloscopes, power meters, standard wave and other similar testing equipment. Apply the electronic theory in conjunction with related pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical system. Repair electronic systems with the use of common hand and power tools. Troubleshoot electronic systems to determine malfunctions occurring in the system. Provide new repair methods on radar systems to lower level employees.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be willing to accept a temporary position.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 40% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination annually and thereafter.

Qualifications

Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. These duties include: operating various testing equipment; determining the correct trouble-shooting methods to be used. Be able to work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - ElectronicsIngenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Theory of ElectronicsTrouble shooting (Electronic Equipment)Use of Test Equipment: Electronics PHYSICAL EFFORT Requires moderate physical effort to lift and carry items weighing approximately 40 pounds. Required to stoop, bend, and stand for prolonged periods and some assignments require climbing 20-to-50 foot heights. WORKING CONDITIONS ??????? Works in well lighted heated and ventilated shop areas or at missile site and is occasionally subject to inclement weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns and shock caused by high voltage energy and soldering irons.
