This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.

Duties

Prepare, revise and edit audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations with audit team to ensure reports are clear and organized, logical, balanced, and based on sufficient, relevant, and competent evidence. Plan, conduct, and complete GAGAS audits that are of high quality, accurate, relevant to customers, and conform to OIG policies, professional standards, and legal requirements and within the prescribed timeframes. Monitor disposition of report findings to ensure proper resolution. Develop new tools and systems and apply innovative techniques in executing audit assignments. Advise and assist the Supervisory Auditior in developing and recommending audit and other oversight policies, procedures and innovative approaches based on techincal expertise and operating experience. Plan, organize, and conduct research on complex issues that involve major area of uncertainty in approach, methodology, or interpretation to identify appropriate solutions.

  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Confidential Financial Disclosure report may be required.
  • TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Lead Auditor, PG -0511-13/14, you must meet the following requirements: A. You must have a degree in accounting or auditing from an accredited college or university; or a degree in a related field of study such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credits in business law. OR B. You must have at least 4 years of experience in accounting/auditing, or an equivalent combination of accounting/auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting/auditing knowledge. To minimally qualify for the PG-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the PG-13 (or equivalent) level or higher. The specialized experience for this position is identified as: Performing audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS); Leading and performing all phases of an audit in accordance with GAGAS; and providing authoritative advice and guidance on developing and writing audit guides in accordance with GAGAS. To minimally qualify for the PG-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at the PG-14 (or equivalent) level or higher. Specialized Experience for this postion includes: overseeing audits and reviews performed by staff; reviewing and approving draft audit reports for technical competency and audit standards; providing authoritative guidance on developing or writing audit guides; and documenting audit findings in accordance with (GAGAS). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (03/07/2024) to be considered.
