Duties

Performs work of receiving, separating, dismantling, sorting, and testing a variety of materials, equipment, metals, and durables. Reviews documents to assure correct item identification, quantity, and condition, and report significant discrepancies to supervisor for resolution. Sorts basic categories of metals and scrap items by determining readily identifiable characteristics such as weight, texture, color, and hardness. May use torches, hammers, pliers, and other tools to demilitarize unserviceable equipment and materials, following detailed and established procedures. Drives up to 1 ton motor vehicle. Operates a variety of fork lifts capable of lifting loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds to move, load, unload, stack or unstuck palletized goods, boxes, crafts, merchandise, materials, and supplies from one location to another.

Requirements

• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.

This includes using and maintaining tools and equipment, being able to read, understand, and apply instructions and other requirements related to this job; and driving and operating forklifts and performing the physical requirements of the job. .
