About the Position: This position is to serve as the Director of IWR's Water Resources Center, which is one of four centers within the Institute for Water Resources (IWR), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This is a permanent position located in Alexandria, VA 22315.

Duties

Serves as Director, Water Resource Center (WRC) within the Institute for Water Resources (IWR), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Supervises six GS-15 Supervisors and one GS-15 technical subject matter expert. Serves as a member of the IWR Corporate Board, Project Review Board (PRB), PBAC, and Human Capital Committee. Applies expert knowledge of management concepts, principles, and practices as well as extensive knowledge of the methods and processes of the technical disciplines. Works in collaboration with the WRC and senior team leaders in setting the overall direction and management of the Water Resource Center's (WRC) broad range of water resources missions and programs. Serves as a technical authority in water resources engineering, scientific, socio-economic and analytical planning to support missions. Applies corporate program controls on manpower and funding resources to ensure that both assigned group and concurrent programs and discrete projects meet established objectives. Ensures mentoring of employees both in assigned group and within own technical purview, and collaborate with peer group managers and team leaders to recommend training and developmental opportunities.

Requirements

Performing duties as a nationally recognized technical subject matter expert in water resources-related experience. Leading and performs special studies pertaining to long-range water resource planning in area of specialized expertise in water resources; national programmatic funds management; and the use of state-of-the-art methods for projecting and analyzing future US water resource development needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
