You will serve as a ELECTRICIAN in the FACILITIES SUSTAINMENT DIVISION of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. WG-8 SALARY: $29.39 - $34.33 WG-10 SALARY: $32.74 - $38.17

Duties

You will install, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, system, and associated fixtures. You will plan and lay out the work, tracing hard-to-locate defects, problems, and completes repairs and installations. You will perform installation and repair of electrical systems such as primary and secondary utility services. You will perform structure-to electrolyte cathodic protection potential surveys.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION 1) Knowledge and skill to install, repair, and maintain a variety of complete electrical systems and equipment such as series, parallel, and compound circuits for single and multiple phase alternating current of varying voltage, amperage, and frequency; wiring systems in industrial complexes and in buildings; and power or regulating and control circuits and distribution panels to industrial machinery, computers or laboratory and other electrical equipment. 2) Knowledge of various gauges, sizes, and types of wire, conduit, couplings, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers, and other electrical devices; and ability to arrange and install them in ways that ensure proper and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment. 3) Ability to interpret and apply the National Electrical Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, and skill in the use of trade formulas to calculate common properties, e.g., voltage, voltage drop and current capability in series and parallel circuits, resistance, inductance, capacitance, power factor, current flow, and temperature, and length in single and multiple raceways, conduits, gutters, and cable trays. 4) skill in the use of hand and power tools such as cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines, and a wide variety of test equipment, e.g., meggers, multimeters, frequency meters, wat meters, power factor meters, vibro grounds, phase rotation meters, audio tone location equipment, high potential.
