Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, in Fairfax, Virginia.
This is non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As an Asset Forfeiture Specialist, at the full performance level you will perform the following duties:
Asset Forfeiture Specialists independently manage, direct, and coordinate aspects of the national and/or Special Agent in Charge (SAC) office asset forfeiture program performing a wide range of specialized duties and tasks related to the storage and ultimate disposal of property seized from criminals, corporations or other illegal entities.
Asset Forfeiture Specialists develop local policies, procedures, guidelines and strategies to meet the SAC office asset forfeiture objectives and mission.
The Asset Forfeiture Specialist uses analysis, data gathering tools and techniques, and information technology in support of asset forfeiture activities; and collaborates with law enforcement, legal personnel including paralegals, marketers, investigators, and property forfeiture specialists internal and external to ICE/HSI.
As the asset forfeiture subject matter expert, the Asset Forfeiture Specialist, provides advice and guidance to senior officials and junior staff regarding the ICE/HSI asset forfeiture program, policies, procedures, activities, trends, and technologies.
The Asset Forfeiture Specialist develops and conducts asset forfeiture training of all personnel engaged in seizure and forfeiture activity in his/her geographic area.
Requirements

- Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
Compile financial and budgetary documents and produce analytical summaries.
Analyze reports for forfeited asset related accounts.
Assist in the direct targeting of background searches, locating assets.
Resolve major conflicts in policy and program objectives and develop and implement new policies and methods.
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
Support a local asset forfeiture program by ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, guidelines and strategies.
Monitor and review analytical reports associated with seized/forfeited assets.
Contribute to the development and implementation of asset forfeiture programs.
