About the Position: Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Advertising and Public Affairs (A&PA) Division of a U.S Army Recruiting Brigade.

Duties

Establishes working relationships with the local and regional media. Organizes events to disseminate information about existing recruitment programs and activities. Maintains an advertising audio-visual library to assure availability of resources for future recruiting and/ or publicity events. Oversees a public relations program (i.e. The Total Army Involvement Recruiting Program) to help reach and influence the primary recruiting audience. Edits written information to ensure it meets specific requirements. Prepares a variety of reports relating to the Total Army Involvement in Recruiting (TAIR) program. Analyzes market data to determine the effectiveness of informational materials. Conducts annual station inspections of Public Affairs programs. Manages the budget requirements of a program by creating budget projections and allocating funds. Reviews media event requests to determine if event is in accordance with established guidelines.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) utilizing social media to monitor publicity for events; (2) utilizing an automated systems to prepare a variety of reports; and (3) maintaining a schedule of events for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and MediaInformation ManagementWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
