You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/NETWORK) of NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will provide technical support for project planning, technology assessments, implementation, security engineering, and technical concept development projects. You will make recommendations pertaining to the acquisition of new hardware, software, and communication systems infrastructure that that will enhance the organization's telecommunications and data architecture. You will provide technical expertise to both local and wide area network systems as well as communication links to program applications and services. You will assist with the management of security aspects of the information system and perform day-to-day security operations of the system.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the excepted service which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning and coordinating the design, development, testing, installation, and support of new and modified systems to include security applications and hardware/software in accordance with applicable standards; 2) Monitoring, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving system malfunctions; 3) Creating and maintaining documentation of IT systems and infrastructure to include configuration standards, diagrams, historical information, and trending information; 4) Conducting backup and recovery tasks to prevent loss of data and system downtime; and 5) Performing continuous monitoring of information systems and user compliance in accordance with organizational policies. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
