About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance

Duties

Serve as chief of an organizational entity, responsible for managing the professional, technical and administrative work of the organizational unit comprised of chemists, material, scientists, technicians, and investigators. Involve highly complex projects that are important to key Army research and development programs, and life-cycle software support integration, or are of critical importance to the infrastructure of the organization. Responsible for overseeing projects and programs, developing plans that meet the goals of the organization, Make decisions on work problems and administrative proposals and coordinating with others within and outside the organization on program accomplishment and collaborative efforts.

  • This position requires approximately 5% of your duty to be performed in Temporary Duty Away (TDY) from your place of work status.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Physical Scientist: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience for the GS-13 grade level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which includes procedures used to overhaul and maintain rotary wing aircraft components and equipment; (2) knowledge of appropriate methodology in usage of instruments for chemical and material analysis, such as the Scanning Electron Microscope, Infrared Spectrophotometer, Atomic Absorption/Emission Spectrophotometer, and X-ray Spectrometer (3) skill in developing and modifying analytical methods, or materials used for control, troubleshooting, and improvement processes; (4) Plan and adjust work operations of chemical and material processes, problems and projects; (5) Develop testing procedures and methodology. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
