This position will serve as the Medical Director for the two adolescent residential treatment centers: Desert Visions and Nevada Skies Youth Wellness Centers. The incumbent provides clinical/medical administrative leadership and formulates, revises, and updated the policies and procedures as they relate to the vision, scope, goals, and objectives of the youth regional treatment programs. This position is located in Sacaton, AZ.
Duties
Serves as the Medical Director and Staff Psychiatrist of DV/NS YWC. The incumbent is responsible for both direct and indirect specialized psychiatric services including substance abuse and mental health services, consultative service, and continuing education.
The incumbent will be responsible for DV/NS YWC child and adolescent evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients of quality expected from a board-certified psychiatrist and in keeping with those standards of the Phoenix Area medical community.
Serves as a member of the Executive leadership staff on administrative policy and procedural matters, is a member of the service unit Governing Body, and participates in the overall management of the Desert Visions and Nevada Skies Youth Wellness Centers.
Inures the successful and timely implementation of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (IHCIA) and applicable Affordable Care Act (ACA) Provision.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication with recognized leaders of tribes served within DV/NS YWC Service Unit facilities. Works closely with Governing Body and the Inter- Tribal Councils of Nevada and Arizona to promote the health care needs of population(s) served.
Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members. which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS, 0602:
Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below.
An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association, (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-15:
Completed 5 years of residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training ( i.e., work in the specialty area after residency). AND one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Experience with Administration clinical services management, Conflict management, Managing Human Resources for recruitment/placement/retention, and coordinate the day-to-day clinical operations of outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory care medical services; Management of work schedules for subordinate staff and approval of leave requests along with performance evaluations.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR - Board Certification:
In addition to the minimum requirements, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of a particular position. Applicants who do not meet a selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. (Must submit a copy with your resume).
Current Board Certification in the physician's specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
