Duties

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April - October, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: 04/07/2024 Major Duties: 1) Applies a general knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting and plumbing techniques. 2) Uses and maintains a variety of tools used for general maintenance. 3) Performs routine inspections. 4) Maintenance and repair on all operated equipment and tools. 5) Performance of sanitation maintenance and custodial services on grounds and in buildings; 6) Mowing and maintenance of grounds and trails using a variety of equipment. Area Information: This position is located in Manteo NC at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site in the Division of Maintenance and supports the maintenance of park structures within the maintenance program. Manteo is among several small villages located on the islands of the Outer Banks of North Carolina-a beach vacation destination. Nags Head has homes for sale or rent and are within reasonable driving distance. The village has grocery stores, banks, and multiple restaurants. The area hospital is located in Nags Head NC. Cost of living on the Outer Banks is somewhat expensive. There is no public transportation available in the area-it is strongly recommended that employees have a private vehicle available for personal use.
