You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Public Affairs & Communication Office at NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will act as communication advisor to the NAVFAC NW Commander on matters pertaining to public information, and command information .
You will analyze public affairs campaigns in terms of their effectiveness in meeting the information needs of the command’s intended audiences.
You will formulate long-range plans and policies to enhance public and employee understanding, support and acceptance of Public Affairs programs and activities.
You will supervise one (1) GS-1035-12 and one (1) GS-1035-11 Public Affairs Specialist position.
You will find ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Providing consultation and advice to senior management officials in the development of public affairs strategies, initiatives, and programs to support an organizations overall goals and objectives;
2) Preparing, reviewing or coordinating speeches, presentations, and written and electronic information materials for general and targeted audiences;
3) Researching and developing informational materials and communication campaigns, responding to media requests, and creating new or adapting campaign formats.
