This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Travel Service Division. As a Lead Financial Systems Technician (Lead Travel Systems Technician), you will administer and plan travel services to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service and external customers involving specialized travel services and regulations.

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-08. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Work with the supervisor in the development of work assignments, performance measures, and controls to monitor performance. Develop techniques and modify procedures to accomplish this goal. Coordinate all work to meet specified time constraints. Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of data. Research accounting and travel system problems and coordinate corrective action as needed. Develop applicable solutions that may be routine or complex. Identify and refer serious problems or questions requiring detailed analysis or extensive system modification to the responsible financial system analyst or higher-level employee. Develop training plans for new employees and serve as the primary trainer or mentor for new and existing employees. Independently prepare and present training materials for new and ongoing training. May participate in training for external customers. Coach staff on proper customer service skills, system requirements, and travel policy. Lead system changes and updates in the accounting and travel system and ensure they are made accurately and in a timely manner. Use the full functionality of personal computers and applicable software including: Windows, spreadsheets, and database management packages.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé. Specialized experience: For the GS-08, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes ALL of the following: - Experience providing customer service and technical assistance to internal and external customers on travel related issues; AND - Experience applying Federal Travel Regulations or other travel related policies; AND - Experience conveying technical information to customers and/or team members; AND - Experience creating training plans and/or facilitating the training of team members. Specialized experience: For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes ALL of the following: - Experience providing customer service and technical assistance to internal and external customers on travel related issues or other automated system issues; AND - Experience applying regulations or business policies; AND - Experience conveying technical information to customers and/or team members. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-08, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-06 level for 52 weeks.
