You will serve as a MAINTENANCE WORKER in the Operating Management Department, Administration Directorate, Naval Ophthalmic Support and Training Activity of NAVOPHTHALSUPPTRACT VA.
Duties
You will operate portable power tools (e.g., drills, routers, nail guns, electric hammers, skill saws, portable table saws, circular saws, sanders, joiners) for woodworking and carpentry jobs
You will lift and carry loads following lifting techniques to prevent injury.
You will work with others to accomplish maintenance, installation, or repair objectives.
You will follow oral or written directions to accomplish diagnostic procedures.
Requirements
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Ability to work independently, make decisions, plan operations, show job responsibility, and exercise initiative.
Ability to use standard tools such as hacksaws, caulking gun, pipe wrenches, power tools, scrapers, wire brushes, putty knives, sand paper, rollers, brushes, sprayers, crimpers, drills, screwdrivers, cutting devices, pliers to perform duties.
Ability to have the ability to conduct moderate plumbing jobs, to include the fabrication of supply and discharge lines to newly installed equipment, such as sump pumps, sinks, hose reels, distillers and fabrication equipment.
Ability to conduct facility janitorial duties, grounds maintenance and minor facility repairs.
Ability to monitor and operate waste water treatment equipment under the supervision of the Waste Water Treatment Program Manager.
