This position is located at the Waco campus, Textile Care Processing Facility, Environmental Management Service which is part of the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS). The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical and assistant support to fulltime employees assigned to that location.

Duties

Primary duties include but are not limited to: Maintains Assistant Chief, EMS calendar and schedules related appointments. Generates, edits, and oversees various tracking programs on the computer. Receives telephone calls and sees visitors. Uses telephone paging system to aid in expedient, satisfactory completion of complaints/concerns for housekeeping, sanitation, pest control and other EMS functions. Assist in gathering and assembling statistical information for billing purposes. Creates, maintains, and modifies spreadsheets, reports, charts/graphs, and other records related to daily operations. Maintains employee records to include position descriptions and performance standards for supervisors. Inputs all timecard coding information and performs services as time and leave clerk for assigned employees. Serves as the section TMS coordinator, responsible for enrolling, giving courses credit, and running compliance reports. Serves as the Automated Data Processing Applications Coordinator (ADPAC). Assist assigned employees with primary access to VA computer systems, creates new user accounts, resets employee passwords, and assist employees with encryption and digital signatures. Maintains Assistant Chief, EMS calendar and schedules related appointments. Submits travel plans, assists with scheduling trips, making reservations, reserving flights, rental cars, meal allowances, and subsequent expense reports. Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Monday - Friday) Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant (OA) Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/26/2024. You may qualify based on your specialized experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes (but is not limited to): Experience with Screening calls (decides to whom the caller should be referred assists caller as appropriate); gathering data and consolidating this information for the supervisor; updating and maintaining time and attendance reports in accordance with established procedures; reviewing the content of letters or other documents for completeness, correctness, or consistency; proofreading letters or other documents for spelling or typographical errors. OR, You may qualify based on your education as described below: Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years of education beyond high school level. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED). OR, You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school. For GS-5 level positions only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) In addition to meeting Experience/Education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate: 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet this requirement by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Operating Systems Technical Credibility Data Management Interpersonal Skills Analytical Reasoning Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary office work, with the usual demands of a normal office atmosphere. Due to the nature of a mental health patient population, the incumbent must be able to deal appropriately with a wide variety of difficult behavior problems.
