About the Position: Serves as a Health Systems Specialist performing duties in support of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and its geographic area of responsibility. This position is located with the Lyster Army Medical Center, Fort Novosel. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Use standard office automation equipment to produce a variety of products to include reports, correspondence and file/record management log. Utilize word processing, Excel spreadsheet and electronic mail for correspondence with customers. Receive walk in patients requesting assistance with records and general hospital information. Fulfill record requests from providers to assist with patient care. Files records returned from the clinics using the terminal digit or alphabetical filing system. Maintain control log of records for tracking status of requests.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5 % of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with (1) Maintaining control log for medical records for tracking status of requests and other pertinent information; (2) processing of records for shipment; and (3) Assembling documents in the medical records in the order outlined the regulation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Advancement to positions up to GS-5. Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment. 5CFR 300.604 C
