About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Duties

Utilize automated software systems to track the retrieval and delivery of critical parts and materials to production line and/or work centers. Direct and/or alter the schedule and movement of material, picks, and stores to meet a constantly changing production facility. Note discrepant material accordingly on proper format and place in designated area for proper disposition/action. Operate material handling equipment in a safe and controlled manner.

Requirements

I have the ability to perform common duties such as process parts requests using computer software received through electronic correspondence; maintain physical custody of material; and move materials to various work areas. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: The employee stands, stoops, bends and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for prolonged periods. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 40 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing over 40 pounds with assistance. Working Conditions: Subject position regularly exposed to possible injury associated with handling equipment. Work is usually performed indoors in well-lighted and ventilated holding areas or shop areas. May be exposed for short periods to outdoor conditions. Regularly exposed to shop noises, dirt, dust, fumes, and vibrations. May be required to wear protective clothing such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses, or gloves.
