You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the SURFACE COMBAT SYSTEMS TRAINING COMMAND (SCSTC) of SURFCOMSYSTRNCMD GREAT LAKES. Pay Scale & Grade For GS-11 = $80,994 to $105,289 For GS-09 = $66,942 to $87,024

Duties

You will administer public affairs programs and activities, which are of a recurring, precedent nature. You will provide advice and guidance to management officials concerning assigned public relations areas. You will collect and disseminate informational materials aimed at enhancing the external public's understanding of the organization's programs, accomplishments and events. You will coordinate the organization's participation in externally sponsored programs and events and/or public participation in organizational programs and events. You will establish and maintain effective relationships with print and broadcast media representatives.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Plan new information materials such as news releases, quasi-technical articles, fact sheets, brochures, booklets, etc. that increase communication with audiences; 2) Analyze facts and information program materials to offer recommendations for improving the delivery of information to the targeted audience; 3) Apply visual information methods and techniques using software (e.g. photo and video editing) for public affairs production; 4) Interact with public personnel including organizational personnel, media representatives, public officials and/or members of the general public. NOTE: This experience must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position. For GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrated experience preparing information products (i.e. photos, videos, news releases, articles, informational reports, etc.) for effective dissemination to internal/external audiences; 2) Maintaining official websites, social media accounts, and/or content management systems for public affairs information dissemination; 3) Writing news articles and/or briefs to disseminate information; and 4) Coordinating internal personnel and resources for participation in community relations events. master's or equivalent graduate degree

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
