About the Position: Serves as a Museum Technician (History) performing a variety museum and park support functions, with the US Army Corps of Engineer, Duluth Regional Project Office, Duluth MT Museum and Visitor Center, Duluth, MN.

Duties
Assists in the processing, preservation, and storage of artifacts and related historical materials.
Performs object handling and basic cleaning functions.
Performs various customer service and administrative duties at an information desk.
Provide museum and park rules and regulations.
Assists in the development, presentation, and maintenance of interpretive programs.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualify for a GS05:
Specialized experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service in or related to museum technician (history) that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, which includes performing a variety of duties to include understanding the principals for managing museum collections; responding to visitor information requests; assist in program presentations, tours, and talks.
OR
Education: I have successfully completed a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or 24 semester hours of course work in a related field such as art, history, museum studies, education, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled such as Public History and/or Archeology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination: I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some graduate level education as described in B, but less than the required half year. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Qualify for GS06:
Specialized experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service in or related to museum technician (history) that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, which includes performing a variety of duties to include assisting in museum collections; assist at information desk; research and provide visitor information; present programs, tours, and talks independently.
OR
Education: I have successfully completed a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as art, history, museum studies, education, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled such as Public History and/or Archeology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combined: I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some graduate level education as described in B, but less than the required half year. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Qualify for GS07:
Specialized experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service in or related to museum technician (history) that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, which includes performing a variety of duties to include managing museum collections; inventory, preservation, research updating collections database; assist in developing collections procedures; administer loans; develop and deliver presentations, tours, and talks; assist in developing procedural and training materials for lower-graded staff, interns, and volunteers.
OR
Education: I have successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as art, history, museum studies, education, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled such as Public History and/or Archeology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Superior Academic Achievement: I have successfully completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in B above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).
