Duties

You will serve an IT SPECIALIST in the N6 Cyber Operations Department Cruise Missile Support Activity Pacific (CMSA PAC), located on Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii. You will be responsible for Systems and Network Administration for numerous physical and virtual Microsoft Windows. You will provide advanced technical support and responsible for planning, installing, administering, and maintaining CMSA PAC’s specialized INFOSEC systems. You will serves as the command network administrator.

Requirements

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (461,451,441), proficiency level (INTERMEDIATE) the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Cybersecurity certification.
  • You will be required to complete a State Criminal History Repository Check.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: 1. Attention to Detail- IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintaining situational awareness (SA) of Network Operations connectivity requirements and capabilities as to ensure effective command and control. 2. Customer Service- IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing technical expertise concerning Navy Enterprise-wide development, implementation, modification, and management of long and short range IT planning and goals. 3. Oral Communication-IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Presenting reports and briefs to technical, non-technical, and senior personnel on research and development of network services. 4. Problem Solving-IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Resolving difficult issues and making recommendations on delivering network transport services. GS-12: In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying a wide range of IT concepts, principles, and practices relating to hardware integration, operating systems and application software; Experience maintaining integrated operating systems and virtualization software; Experience in Cisco networking devices/applications and skill in deploying within an existing network infrastructure; Experience developing and executing recovery plans to fully restore all IT operational assets; Experience planning, designing, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, problem resolution and network asset management of switches, routers, firewalls, and other network security devices, Intrusion Protections Systems (IPS), encryption devices such as TACLANES, and Windows platforms. GS-11: In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience creating and providing technical documentation for all information systems, networks, and associated applications; Experience troubleshooting and triaging problems to understand and communicate mission impact. Experience developing and implementing applications, plans and documents controlled maintenance and modification of the network equipment. Experience conducting threat and vulnerability assessments to access risks and determine effective corrective measures. GS-09: In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience reviewing and evaluating the security impact of system changes and IT purchases. Experience integrating new routers, switches, firewalls, IPS devices, VPNs, and network devices into the existing networks. Experience performing routine server maintenance (installation, updates, and upgrades) GS-07: In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing and verifying the availability of current data backups prior to making minor or major changes. Experience developing and sustaining technical and operational content required for technical specifications, installation, maintenance, and user manuals to support the hardware, software, and system lifecycle.
