About the Position: As an Environmental Protection Specialist you will serve as the person responsible for all facility matters in environmental compliance with responsibilities as a safety officer. You'll be responsible for assuring the environmental programs comply with environmental policy acts, regulations and laws.

Duties

Ensures installation-wide compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Devises new methods and techniques to remain in compliance and implement solutions to unique Environmental Protection situations. Reviews pending legislation for impact on assigned programs and prepare briefings and position papers for management. Analyzes data from various sources and identify trends in the functions and operations of the assigned program. Manages the development and implementation of the safety management system as well as the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). Plans and manages technical aspects of the Environmental Protection Program. Performs risk assessment to mission accomplishment before providing updated information regarding changes in policy and regulations. Performs analysis to determine probable solutions and propose appropriate solutions to mitigate negative effects.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 5% of the time.
• Must obtain and maintain Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) certification.
• This position requires the completion of Collateral Duty Safety Officer training as required by applicable USACE and Federal regulations.
