Duties

Maintains surveillance throughout designated activities, observing customers and employees, in an effort to prevent and detect dishonest acts.  Detains anyone suspected of a dishonest act and escorts them to the Security Office;  prepares reports pertaining to security incidents; gathers facts and evidence; and maintains close liaison with law enforcement authorities.  May be required to appear and testify in court or at hearings concerning security cases.  Studies inventory losses and conducts inquiries as required, in high shortage areas.  Reviews merchandise periodically to ensure proper pricing.

Qualifications

A minimum of one year of experience in security, retail, or customer service techniques and methods.  Have good communication and analytical skills. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.  May perform work that poses physical demands beyond normal requirements. Must demonstrate alertness, integrity and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (Tier 3). GUN CONTROL ACT DUTY STATEMENT ¿ FOR COVERED POSITIONS  This is a ¿covered position¿ for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a ¿qualifying conviction¿ for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED. Will be required to successfully complete and obtain/maintain a favorable background investigation at the ANACI level.
