These WG-4749-07 Maintenance Worker positions are part of the Facility Maintenance Division, located in Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Natural Bridges National Monument. Duties

Perform recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance mechanics. Completes tasks involving general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing work. Operates tools and equipment common to the trades of carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and fence construction. Constructs, installs, repairs and replaces items such as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. Performs plumbing tasks such as replacing hose bibs, valves, faucets and toilets. Patches and repairs roofs consisting of built up tar and paper, metal, as well as foam roofs and asphalt shingles. Performs janitorial duties and laboring tasks including housekeeping, grounds-keeping, vehicle operation and routine vehicle maintenance. Operates vehicles in the performance of assigned duties for transportation of self and other employees to and from worksites. Responsible for detailed layout, selection of tools and materials and for accuracy, completeness and adherence to standards. Instructions are of a general nature, supplemented by your knowledge and understanding of the trade (s) involved with the maintenance or repair work needed. Assigned tasks are performed independently, with no technical assistance. Finished work is checked for adequacy by supervisor. Area Information: Arches National Park contains the world's largest concentration of natural stone openings. Arches, spires, balanced rocks, canyons and fins of colorful red rocks are set against the dramatic backdrop of the La Sal Mountains, rising to over 12,000ft in elevation. Housing may be available. Canyonlands National Park preserves a wilderness of rock at the heart of the Colorado Plateau. Water and gravity have been the prime architects of this land, cutting flat layers of sedimentary rock into hundreds of canyons, mesas, buttes, fins, arches and spires. Housing may be available. Natural Bridges National Monument encompasses approximately 7800 acres. Three massive sandstone "bridges" can be viewed within the deep, looping canyons. Human occupation in the area dates back to 7000 B.C. Housing may be available.
