The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the Family Member Relocation Clearance (FMRC) Coordinator and Administrative Assistant to the Exceptional Family Member Program - Medical (EFMP-M); to perform administrative duties concerning the coordination, processing, review and maintenance of medical and Special Needs (SN) files.

Duties

Coordinates, processes, reviews, maintains and manages information pertaining to the EFMP process and coordinates with Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC) and the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) to provide Family Member Relocation Clearance information. Initiates, develops and maintains effective working relationships with healthcare providers, departments within the medical center, the MPF, First Sergeants, Commanders, military and civilian agencies, AFPC, and EFMP and Command personnel worldwide to ensure proper identification of special needs families and delivery of FMRC/EFMP-M services. Assists with screening Special Needs Clients to determine need for enrollment, resources and services under the guidance of the Chief of the Medical Staff (SGH) and Health Care Integrator (HCI). Retrieves medical records and information from various records rooms, electronic health records, non-Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) medical records and other pertinent medical documentation resources and prepares them for Special Needs Coordinator (SNC) review. Uses varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit and print a variety of letters, reports, memorandums, and other textual documents. Develops and maintains up to date databases on FMRC and EFMP - M enrollees and maintains Special Needs files. Maintains and reports FMRC statistics and performs a variety of miscellaneous duties in support of the EFMP-M.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions, Social Services Aid and Assistant Series, 0186. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 (or higher) grade level or equivalent pay systems (may have been obtained in the federal service, military, or public sector) which includes knowledge of DoD, AF and SNIAC/EFMP guidance & procedures, enrollment criteria, Family Member Relocation Clearance procedures and Facility Determination Inquiries. Knowledge of laws and regulations related to confidentially of medical records, documentation, and patient information. Skill in effectively and tactfully interviewing clients needing SNIAC/EFMP services. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Ability to brief individuals and groups using effective oral and written communication. OR EDUCATION: I have successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is 100%. NOTE: You must submit copies of transcript. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of FMRC and EFMP-M requirements, enrollment criteria, procedures and Facility Determination Inquiries. 2. Skill in effectively and tactfully interviewing clients needing FMRC and EFMP-M services and the ability to collect, evaluate and disseminate information. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. 3. Must be able to work well with others in a team setting and to communicate effectively, both orally and in Writing, to establish and maintain effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy; to interact with individuals, families, and program support representatives. 4. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures to perform duties to include: maintaining office files/forms, answering telephone, ordering supplies, distributing mail, sending and answering electronic mail, and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format; to accurately prepare and edit, written documents and reports. A qualified typist is required. 5. Skill in using various computer software database, spreadsheet, word processing and network programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 6. Ability to plan, organize work, establish goals and objectives, set priorities and meet suspenses. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
