About the Position: This position is located in the Northwestern Division-Portland, Operations Division - John Day Project.

Duties

Serves as the Project’s ProjectWise (PW) document management system and MicroStation workspace administrator. Uses CAD software to design and prepare drawings for contract and in-house work. Responsible for the maintenance, development, modification, storage, and retrieval of all types of drawings. Conducts on-site investigations and inspections in connection with proposed improvements or modifications of mechanical or electrical features; takes measurements, makes sketches, and assembles pertinent technical data. Responsible for the creation of complete on-site 3D models. Responsible for performing periodic readings for piezometer and other testing and measuring instrumentation at many locations on the Project.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Heavy lifting of at least 50 pounds required.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license at time of appointment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-04 General and/or Specialized Experience: Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with [insert examples of subject matter or processes specific for the occupation] AND six months of specialized experience which includes technical work in drafting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03). OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-05 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using computer-aided software to create engineering drawings or to depict objects/features. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience using computer-aided drafting systems to update basic to complex engineering drawings for projects focused on civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience using computer-aided design to produce basic engineering drawings from sketches for projects focused on civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. GS-08 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience using computer-aided design to produce complex engineering drawings from sketches for projects focused on civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience utilizing an electronic document management system to catalog, file, and organize engineering documents; AND using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems to create and update drawings of equipment and facilities in an industrial or campus setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. GS-10 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD), 3D modeling, and other Computer Aided Engineering tools to develop detailed models and develop detailed contract drawings of complex structures or machinery for multiple engineering disciplines and utilizing automated systems such as Projectwise, CADD/Building Information Modeling (BIM), Microsoft (MS) Office, and Adobe. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education
