You will serve as the Group Lead for the Trajectory Operations Officers in the Trajectory Branch of the Flight Dynamics Division in the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). Responsible for the technical readiness of operational concepts, supporting software tools and analyses, and personnel training required for real-time trajectory operational support in Mission Control for the International Space Station (ISS) and Visiting Vehicles. Serves as a member of the Trajectory Branch management team.

Duties

Oversees the technical readiness of the Trajectory Operation Officers’ preparedness for real-time operations, including operational concepts, engineering analysis, personnel training, and certification of software tools. Leads the team in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload among employees; arranges for team member training; monitors and reports on the status and progress of work. Advises the team and serves as facilitator in selecting appropriate application of problem-solving methods/techniques. Anticipates challenges and plans for them; adapts when unexpected issues arise. Develops, implements, and monitors performance of new or modified processes and procedures to safely enhance overall mission effectiveness. Represents the team in dealings with the supervisor and manager to obtain resources and secure information for decisions; informs the supervisor of team and individual performance, engineering problems, and recommends corrective actions. Maintains work/resource forecasts for the group and assists with budget management when required. Ensures the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, and work; communicates to the team milestones. Assists the Branch Chief in setting branch priorities and policies, assessing employee performance including award and promotion recommendations, assisting employees in career planning, and identifying potential technical issues and challenges. Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Providing oversight of spaceflight operations plans, processes, and procedures to ensure safe and effective normal operation and anomaly response operations; Analyzing engineering processes used in flight operations to ensure space vehicle, crew safety and mission objectives are met; and Overseeing or leading engineering projects to include planning, organizing, directing, controlling and integrating tasks. Education


Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus; and that provided an in-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical applications of computer science, including digital computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations.

If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.

Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
