The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an Audio-Visual Information Technician, Academic Operations Directorate, Ira C. Eaker Center for Leadership Development. To provide support to the faculty, staff and students, and to provide audiovisual equipment, operations and maintenance (O&M) supply, and facility management for the Center.

Duties

In collaboration with management, subject matter experts, and/or project officers, plans, organizes, and develops visual information material on a variety of projects. Maintains equipment and supplies and provides customer service and technical assistance. Serves as audiovisual equipment account custodian. Identifies and revalidates current and future unit audiovisual requirements, development of specifications, and statement(s) of work. Serves as a focal point for visual information activities. Operates audiovisual equipment such as projectors (35mm slide, overhead transparency, 16mm, video, digital). Performs various unit-related duties. Performs daily inspections of booths, facilities, and directs repairs and corrections.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Visual Information Series, 1084. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level (or higher) or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include: Applying knowledge of a variety of computer graphic, drawing, presentation, and utility software to plan, design and create audiovisual products; knowledge of traditional audiovisual presentation products such as 35mm slide projectors and overhead projectors, etc.; and knowledge of DoD and Air Force supply system. Comprehending and applying applicable DoD and Air Force instructions in the areas of facilities and key management, fire and safety, and emergency evacuation. Providing knowledge of presentation skills such as stage, presentation, microphone usage, lighting techniques, etc. Operating and providing minor maintenance on a variety of audiovisual equipment such as video camcorders, 35mm projectors, 16mm projectors, overhead projectors, computer driven video projector systems, computer/audiovisual interfaces, auditorium, conference rooms and classroom audio and lighting systems and audio/video mixing and editing systems. Using knowledge of Air Force and organizational security requirements. Communicating on a technical level and working in harmony with military and civilian personnel of all ranks. Communicating effectively orally and in writing; working harmoniously and maintaining professional relationships with military and civilian scholars and researchers. OR EDUCATION: I have successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field, Major study - commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position, or I have a bachelor's degree in the subject area related to the position and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of a Visual Information Specialist. This education was received from an accredited University, College, etc. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a variety of computer graphic, drawing, presentation and utility software to plan, design and create audiovisual products. Knowledge of traditional audiovisual presentation products such as 35mm slide projectors and overhead projectors, etc. Knowledge of DoD and Air Force supply system. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing especially. Ability to work harmoniously and maintain professional relationships with military and civilian scholars and researchers. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
