This position serves as a Data Scientist providing a range of analytical support for multiple aviation related CFR parts. Utilizes simple and complex analytical techniques, data mining, and statistical analysis in the development of solutions to enhance risk-based, data supported decision-making processes.
Duties
Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Through the use of sophisticated analytical data models, provides and consults with management on the development and execution of programs that improve organizational effectiveness, efficiency and/or meet strategic objectives. Provides direction to Data Analyst and other employees on work activities, serves as a project manager or team leader for large projects/programs/ activities. Applies experience and comprehensive technical knowledge of analytical and statistical methods and techniques to support the aviation system and aviation safety data.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements: Successful completion of a full four-year degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.ORAlternative Requirements: Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in the paragraph above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.Specialized Experience for J-Band: In addition to the basic/alternative qualification requirements identified above, all applicants must demonstrate one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (FV-I or FG/GS-13). Specialized experience is experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or directly related to work of the position to be filled. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes:Experience includes applying advanced knowledge of and experience with data, data integration, analysis, visualization, and socialization of information that resolve complex technical and organizational issues.Experience identifying the methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract patterns and trends in data from varied structured and unstructured data sets related to the data science lifecycle.Applicants should include relevant examples (ex.) of the specialized experience in your work history.
