As a Security Specialist/Special Agent for Kennedy Space Center's Protective Services Office, you will serve as the Physical Security Program Manager for the NASA Critical Infrastructure Protection Program in the protection of NASA critical infrastructure assets.
Duties
Directs, plans, and controls physical security measures to ensure necessary protections against espionage, sabotage, and terrorism.
Conducts operations to detect, deter, and neutralize security violations and workplace violence.
Reviews and develops new or proposed security policies, plans, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policy for the protection of personnel, programs, information, and facilities.
Serves as Duty Agent for the Protective Services Office (PSO) for any protective service matters affecting the Kennedy Space Center (KSC), on-duty and off.
Serves as a Lead Special Agent for major events held within KSC property.
Supports major KSC PSO security functions including training and awareness, law enforcement/investigations, badging/access control, workplace violence prevention, facility and asset protection, contractor oversight, and strategic security planning.

- If selected, you must be able to meet the criteria for use of a firearm in accordance with the Federal Arrest Authority.
- If selected, you must be able to meet the standard and training qualifications in strict compliance with 14 CFR, Chapter V, Part 1203b.103, Security Programs Arrest Authority, and Use of Force by NASA Security Force Personnel.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
analyzing, developing, and conducting facility security assessments in conformance with regulations;
collaborating with the appropriate authorities to design and implement physical security measures such as anti-terrorism, anti-espionage and sabotage protection; and
conducting investigations into security violations.
