This position is located on the Inyo National Forest.
The incumbent has primary responsibilities for recreation maintenance, administrative facilities maintenance, and field camp maintenance and management.
Duties
Perform a variety of maintenance tasks, such as surface preparation/coating/painting, facilities cleaning, and grounds preparation/maintenance.
Interpret oral and written technical instructions to independently perform common carpentry and cement/concrete construction/repair work. I independently performed plumbing installation and maintenance.
Use knowledge of various crafts and trades to perform work involving maintenance and repair of buildings, exterior structures, grounds, and related fixtures and utilities such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and roofing.
Perform general carpentry work to maintain facilities by applying standard measurements, specifications, and instructions when constructing, installing, or repairing items.
Use a variety of power equipment in the accomplishment of duties including backhoes, forklift, man lift, flat bed, weed eaters, and chainsaws.
Apply standard measurements, specifications, and instructions when constructing, installing, or repairing plumbing, such as unclogging drains, re-sweating copper water pipes, replacing sections of plastic pipe, toilet flush valves.
Select proper tools/methods to be used based on established practices or specific instructions from the supervisor.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
