Duties

Serve as a calibration specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical and dimensional standards and measurements applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation of test. Select, apply, and interpret electronic principles and practices as related to the specialty area as required to collect, reduce, display, analyze data, and provide metrology information for a wide variety of general purpose TMDE. Prepare reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provides technical information used in the decision making process for the development of documents used for TMDE certification. Provide calibration traceability through the Army Calibration Laboratory and Army Primary Standards Laboratory to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Perform repairs incidental to calibration as required by equipment specifications. Measurements applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

In addition, I have the ability to interface with user and manufacturer of test equipment as necessary to clarify questionable areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments or nonstandard TMDE. I work under normal supervision of higher-level supervisor who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
