Duties

This position serves as a Resource Assistant for the Green River District. Maintains grazing applications and rangeland improvement projects in electronic databases such as Rangeland Administration System (RAS) and Rangeland Improvement Projects System (RIPS). Computes and prepares grazing bills in RAS and processes grazing bill payments and refund in Collections and Billing System (CBS). Compiles, organizes and provides range related Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and litigation information. Prepares and finalizes correspondence using proper spelling, grammar and format. Computes, tracks and prepares various bills required for Special Recreation Permits and assists with the counting of Recreation fees and making bank deposits. Maintains Special Recreation Permit files and ensures all documentation is in order as per the stipulations of each permit. Provides front-line customer service when needed to include answering customer questions over the phone, digitally, and in person. Resolves customer concerns by providing information or referring the customer to the appropriate subject matter expert in the office. Takes payment for government products available for sale, application fees and permit fees associated with a variety of permits.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-06 level you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level equivalent in difficulty and complexity to perform the duties of a Resource Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience includes: entering, retrieving and correcting data in an automated data management system; reviewing documents for accuracy; and utilizing computer software and office machines to complete daily tasks. Please note there are no educational substitutions at this grade level. To qualify at the GS-07 level you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 level equivalent in difficulty and complexity to perform the duties of a Resource Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience includes: entering, retrieving and correcting data in project and permit tracking systems; reviewing documents to ensure compliance and accuracy with policies and procedures; and compiling and responding to formal request for information. Please note there are no educational substitutions at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary but does include periods of standing, walking, stooping, lifting and carrying of boxes and field supplies. There may be occasional visits to the field that could include short periods of walking, hiking or driving over rough terrain. The incumbent may be required to drive a government vehicle. Knowledge of driving a 4X4 vehicle is required. Work Environment: The work is typically performed in an office setting. Occasionally work may be performed outdoors with the incumbent subject to changes in terrain. Occasional travel is required.
