Salary Ranges are the following unless statutory/regulatory rates prevail. For the Redstone Arsenal, AL Location: $90,431 to $139,798 (includes 21.48% locality) For the Schriever AFB, CO Location: $89,128 to $137,784 (includes 19.73% locality) This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Acq Demo Business and Technical Management to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service

Duties

The position(s) covered by this vacancy announcement is in the Department of Defense (DoD) Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). For more information please see: AcqDemo This position is part of the Department of Defense (DoD), Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The incumbent will be responsible for serving as a technical coordinator for the continuous operation (24 hours a day/7 days a week) of the MDA Administration and General Services Computer Network Defense Service Provider (CNDSP) Analysis function which encompasses 9 global regions and more than 9,000 unclassified and classified users. As a IT Specialist (Network/Security) at the NH-2210-3 broadband level some of your typical work assignments may include: Leads the Cybersecurity Service Provider in accomplishing daily activities directed by NIST and DoD standards and ensuring the readiness and resiliency of the security operations center through real world and cyberspace events. Orchestrates the application of DoD governance in the form of manuals, instructions, directives and audits while analyzing cyber event log data from agency operations and support networks in order to assure the agency's cybersecurity architecture is compliant and capable of defending against cyberspace threats. Evaluates network cybersecurity tool compliance metrics communicates trends and impacts to cybersecurity and senior leaders; leads collaboration to assess risk and develop strategies to improve compliance and ensure effective execution of defensive cyberspace operations. Leads agency incident handlers in identifying cyber events and evaluating network log data in order to characterize cyberspace incidents; leads execution of agency incident response procedures to ensure investigative data is captured and documented according to DoD and agency standards; services as focal point for all cyberspace incident command and control reporting through the agency leadership and DoD chain of command structures.

  • This is an Information Assurance Workforce/Cybersecurity position coded in the Computer Network Defense-Service Provider Manager (CND-SPM) Specialty. Must have at time of permanent appointment or achieve within 6 months of Entry on Duty (EOD).

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH-03 broadband level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Managing execution of cybersecurity incident detect and response processes and procedures. Preparing and presenting comprehensive IT briefings and recommending mitigation strategies to higher level cyber leaders. Evaluating network monitoring and intrusion detection log analysis and applying Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) processes. Interpreting patterns of noncompliance, cyber tasking orders, cybersecurity assessment results, and network log analysis to determine their impacts on the level of risk and/or overall effectiveness of cybersecurity strategies, controls, and resiliency. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
