You will serve as a HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN LEADER in the Public Works Dept. of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND MARIANAS. As a FWS employee recruited from outside of the insular area, you are entitled to a 20% Pay Differential (taxable). This differential is subject to change without notice. NOTE: This differential is not available currently due to a lack in system functionality. A remedy is being worked at this time. Once available, you will receive back pay for the amount due.

Duties

You will be responsible for assigning the workload and making assignments based on the ability, capability and experience of the crew. You will lead personnel who install, modify, and replace generation and distribution equipment in substations, power-generating facilities, transformer vaults, and/or distribution centers. You will ensure that the necessary blueprints, tools, equipment and supplies are obtained and made available to the crews. You will lead the crew in trouble shooting cable systems to locate shorts, opens, crosses, electrolysis damage, capacitance imbalances, or cable breaks using common electrical test devices such as voltmeter, ohmmeter and megger, You will lead a crew that works above ground on overhear platforms to string overhead wires and set proper wire tension in accordance with strength and weight of wires.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • .Selectee must be located within the commute area of the command upon entry to duty.
