In this position you will work as a member of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), Engineering Branch Team. MWEOC is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, approximately 60 miles west of Washington, DC. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD and construction project management experience.

Duties

All MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place. Exercises and activations are planned and unplanned, and may require long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.

The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Basic Requirements: Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in drafting, surveying, construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. OR Certification: Engineering technicians may be certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Certification by the Institute will be helpful as a measure of the technician's quality of experience. And in addition to meeting the basic requirements above, you must also meet the specialized experience statement below. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Assisting in the review of construction design drawings and specifications AND, Preparing reports for presenting conclusions and/or recommendations for construction projects AND, Participating in construction inspections and documenting findings.
